Spiritual Care

Offering refined spiritual care.

As part of our comprehensive approach to care, Stillwater Hospice offers patients and their loved ones spiritual care and physical, emotional, and social support. You may not be aware of how integrated our spiritual service is with chaplain care within the community and that we offer refined care to people of all faiths and worldviews.

When confronted with a life-threatening illness, people who have not previously had much time, or occasion, to think thoughtfully about their beliefs may want to discuss these things with someone who can listen and guide with compassion. During this time, a chaplain's sympathetic and tender support can help patients and their families identify the most meaningful things, with all the power and reassurance those memories can bring.

To break it down further, here are a few more benefits of the spiritual care provided through Stillwater Hospice:

  1. Our trained chaplains assist people of all faith histories, including those who do not recognize a particular religious or spiritual organization. Hospice chaplains contribute spiritual support in ways individual to each person's own set of values and morals that are most important to them.

  2. Suppose a patient or family member draws spiritual strength from the universe, nature, or a system of family and friends. In that case, chaplains seek creative methods for the person to connect most helpfully.

  3. Studies show spiritual care is associated with a more satisfying quality of life for patients near death. This standard of support can make all the difference as individuals and their family members face the reality of end-of-life.

Hospice chaplains implement spiritual healing through various ways, including music, prayer and devotion, ritual and imagery, and legacy or a life review. Care is presented based on an individual's individual beliefs. If sought, our chaplains also collaborate with the individual's church or other faith community.

Our devotion to offering a respectful service of various human beliefs means supporting people of all faiths and philosophies. We are committed to ensuring that people from all faith beliefs will feel comfortable in our care.

Stillwater Hospice's ideology is that everyone should have access to high-quality, individualized end-of-life care, also presenting refined, spiritual care for their loved ones both before death and during bereavement.
