March Team Spotlight

Meet Sa’Bryn Atkins and Courtney Holmquist

We value the hard work and loyalty of our compassionate and resilient staff; we'd like to introduce you to two women who consistently go above and beyond to build relationships that benefit our patients, community, and hospice.

Meet Courtney Holmquist and Sa' Bryn Atkins - this month's dynamic duo spotlight!

We recently interviewed Courtney and Sa'Bryn to gain insight into their lives as Community Resource Representatives in Billings, Montana

Stillwater Hospice: What year did you start with Stillwater Hospice:

Courtney: 2019

Sa' Bryn: 2022

Stillwater Hospice: What would you be if you weren't so dang good at your current job?

Courtney: A bum on a beach.

Sa' Bryn: An owner of a golden retriever rescue. That is actually my retirement plan with my husband, but if I could do it now, I would!

Stillwater Hospice: What is the best advice you have ever received?

Courtney: Kick butt and do good things.

Sa' Bryn: Work hard, stay humble.

Stillwater Hospice: What would your superpower be if you were a superhero?

Courtney: To be invisible.

Sa' Bryn: Teleportation, then I'd never be late anywhere! Also, I could teleport myself to a beach after work; how nice would that be?

Stillwater Hospice: Cats or dogs; do you have any?

Courtney: Dogs! I don't have any, and I miss that.

Sa' Bryn: Dogs all the way! I have a golden retriever that is 2 years old named Sonny, and he is pretty much my whole world. He is my best friend, along with my husband Nick and soon-to-be-born baby girl!

Stillwater Hospice: What is your favorite word in the English language?

Courtney: Done.

Sa' Bryn: Flabbergasted. I remember my grandma saying it to me as a child, and I just thought it was the funniest way to say you were shocked. I don't use it often, but I do when it fits into the conversation.

Stillwater Hospice: What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

Courtney: Let your heart guide you, and trust your gut. Love your families, and patients like you would love your own family.

Sa' Bryn: Be prepared to meet some of the most amazing people at Stillwater and in this community of Billings, MT. I have met some of the kindest people in the various assisted living, nursing homes, and hospitals in town and surrounding areas. Also, the interaction with the patients we get on service is so special. I have had some very sweet moments with some of the loveliest people.

Stillwater Hospice: What's the most inspiring part of your job?

Courtney: Being able to provide support in a very difficult phase of life.

Sa' Bryn: Definitely just being able to talk to people about the gift of hospice and how much it could benefit not only the patient's quality of life but their family's live's as well.

Stillwater Hospice: What is the most important thing you learned as a child?

Courtney: Love with all your heart.

Sa' Bryn: Treat others how you would want to be treated.

When I was 5, I was sure I'd be a [JOB/PROFESSION] when I grew up.

Courtney: Secretary in a high rise in the city wearing a silver dress or a checker at the grocery store.

Sa' Bryn: I really wanted to be an ice cream man. I thought if I owned my ice cream truck, I could eat all the ice cream I ever wanted. It was a pretty genius plan until I realized the ice cream wouldn't exactly be free...

How do you feel about your partnership as Community Relations Representatives?

Courtney: I love how we work as a team. Sa'bryn communicates well, making it fun and easy to work together to get patients on service. Her attitude is always so positive, and having her running next to me makes it feel like we truly can conquer this territory.

Sa'Bryn: I love working with Courtney! I have learned so much from her as a marketer. It is nice to have someone I trust 100% and know I can rely on. We have had some wonderful times together, and I really enjoy being a co-marketer with her.

Stillwater Hospice: What else would you like us to know?

Courtney: I love what I do, and I love the company I work for and can't imagine being anywhere else.

Sa' Bryn: I really enjoy working for Stillwater Hospice. I couldn't ask to work with a better group of people. I'm lucky to have a job I look forward to coming into every day.

Thank you both for your hard work and commitment to hospice; our patients and families appreciate your services. We'd also like to say how grateful we are that you didn't pursue your dreams as a secretary in a silver dress or an ice cream truck driver; we love having you here.  Keep up the compassionate work and upbeat attitude!
